Raleigh Residential Real Estate – Raleigh, North Carolina Growth in Eastern Wake County

Grown in Eastern Wake County spurred by new US 64 By-Pass

The US 64 By-Pass opened one year ago this month. It has alleviated what was once one of the worst traffic jambs in the Raleigh, NC area. In addition, the By-Pass is beginning to generate growth in Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, and northern Johnson County, North Carolina.

Each of these areas is planning for a rapid population growth in the next ten years.

Knightdale, NC currently has a population of 7,800 and projects by 2016 a population of 27,000. Wendell, NC currently has about 5,000 residents and expects to grow to 23,000. Zebulon, NC has about 4,500 people living in the city and is planning for a growth to 14,000 in the same time period.

More than 5,000 new housing units have been approved in this eastern Wake County area.

Most of the time commercial development follows residential growth. Knightdale, NC already has a major new 50 acre development called the Shoppes at Midway Plantation that has a new Home Depot that recently opened and more stores set to open this summer.
